Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

Community Action for Human Rights and Development (CAHRD) is an NGO in Sierra Leone. CAHRD promotes human rights, governance and justice for marginalized rural women and children.

The organization operates in Makeni and the surrounding communities.

What is your project and how will it help?

This project is a “Goods and relief supply project” for 250 children, 100 youths and 150 widows. The children are orphans and street children who are marginalized and desperately in need. CAHRD is also looking for volunteers to help expand its activities.

The principal objectives of CAHRD are:

1. To educate the people in the region about human rights issues, violation of child rights and to take children off from street and retain in schools/vocational institutions.

2. To engage children in taking part in local community activities.

3. To liaise with other non-governmental organizations, both local and international to enhance the promotion and protection human rights Development values through advocacy, training, publications and lobbying.

4. To monitor, document, report and address human rights abuses.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

Donation of relief and goods, financial support to buy these goods and also sending of experts and volunteers to work with us in Sierra Leone.
